Praise and Prayer from the Perkins

Dear Faithful Friends,

Refugees from Burma

We don't know what all the Lord is up to yet but we have been having more and more refugees from Burma (now called Myanmar) attending our church. The first family started coming about a year and a half ago. Now we have as many as twenty people on Sunday mornings.

They have been learning English and now that we can communicate better with them we have learned that they are from a people group called Karen people. They have been persecuted over the years in Myanmar and thus many of them have been in refugee camps for many years for protection.

Adoniram Judson

The ministry that Adoniram Judson had in Burma over 150 years ago flowed to these Karen people and was very fruitful among them. Today many of the Karen people are Baptists. I'm sure that Adoniram Judson had no idea that his ministry in Burma would still be bearing fruit today. That is an encouragement for us all to keep on faithfully sowing the seeds of God's Word.

Karen Baptist Church

For about the last 6 months these people have been meeting in various homes having their own church service in their language. They now want to start a Karen Baptist Church here in Canberra. They still want to be connected to us so they can continue to learn English and the Australian culture.

Prayer

Pray that God will accomplish all that He intends through us and these dear people. Pray for their leader Than Soe who has had some Bible College training when they were still in the refugee camp. Pray that this will be a fruitful ministry for God's Glory!
