Taking It to the Streets

U.S. Dollar at Parity with Australian

Taking It to the Streets .
. .
This past weekend we
began our door knocking campaign, Taking It to
the Streets. Although we had a small number turn out on
Saturday and Sunday, we were very pleased with how our
first two days went. We were able to visit several homes
in our respective neighborhoods and give out a brochure
not only giving details of our church here but one that
clearly presents the Gospel. We had a few promising
visits and a few very interesting ones. These really
shed light on how some Aussies feel about church and
religion. One man, from New Zealand, told us he worships
in his own way and basically has his own “gods.” Another
man said he’d consider religion only when “the arm of
God comes out of the clouds”. We had a few people who
would not open their doors to us but did find some who
would listen and took our information. With thousands of
homes in our community we have our work cut out for us.
We plan to continue going out every weekend we can until
we have been to every home. Please pray with us that
more of our church people will come out in the coming
weeks to help us knock on doors and that the people we
meet will be receptive. Thank you.
Ministry DVD Almost Finished
We just
have a few final touches to our DVD. We plan to send it
to the states in the next few weeks for duplication and
shipping. We hope you will enjoy it and show it to your
church. Let us know what you think!
Health Update on Valerie
Please keep praying for Valerie. The doctor is still
concerned about her operated right foot. She may have a
Morton’s Neroma. She will also need surgery on the left
foot next year.
Busy but Good Times
November is going to be a busy month for us. On the 15th
Pastor Dan Jeffers and his family will be visiting us in
Sydney and coming to Canberra later in the month. On the
20th our church will have a booth at the local primary
school’s fair. Hundreds of children and their families
are expected to come. This will be a great opportunity
to tell others about our church and share Jesus with
them. Valerie will be sharing the Christmas story with
over 280 children and their teachers in the Scripture
classes in the local public school. She is also working
on a Christmas routine with her dowel rod drama team of
sixth graders. They will be performing in the school and
community in December. On the 27th we are hosting a big
Thanksgiving dinner. Over 30 people are expected to
attend, including many of our unsaved friends and
neighbors. Praise God for all of these wonderful
opportunities!
U.S. Dollar at Parity with
Australian
 This
past month we saw the U.S. Dollar become the weakest it has
been since we’ve been on the field – weakest actually in the
past 28 years for that matter. As this is being written it
is at parity again, which means it is an even exchange. When
we first came on the field almost 10 years ago, the American
dollar was at .52 which means that we were getting almost
double our support when it was exchanged. We have seen it go
up and down over the years but never at the levels we are
seeing today. But, prices have not gone down. In most cases
they have gone up as well. For us, it is like taking a huge
pay cut without doing anything at all. We know that the
Global Financial Crisis is also hitting everyone very hard.
We have lost some churches’ support because of this. It is a
very difficult time for most of the missionaries overseas as
the American dollar continues to weaken. We ask that you
prayerfully consider if your church can help us, even if
it’s just a little more, as we deal with this financial
crisis. Thank you so very much!

Happy Thanksgiving from the Keefe family!
We are so very thankful for all you do!
Finally, brethren,
pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be
glorified, even as it is with you. – 2 Thess. 3:1
