Lifting Christ Up
Down Under

Busy Time of Year . . .

While much of the nation is out having a “Spring Break” for the kids’ school holidays, we are gearing up for a very busy time of the year. We will be kicking off our new youth Bible study and youth group this Friday night. We are so excited that the Lord has brought an energetic young couple to lead this group. Please pray for a good turnout and that we can reach many youth here with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
On the 25th of October we will be celebrating our three-year anniversary of our ministry here in Jerrabomberra. We plan to have a day of family games, live music, and an Aussie barbecue. Dwayne will be challenging our people to go “Beyond These Walls,” as we kick off our Operation Jerra campaign to knock on the doors of over 3000 homes in our community. We want to give everyone here a personal invitation to our weekly service and leave them with a Gospel tract and information about the ministry here. Please be in prayer for us as we prepare our materials and that many people will help us to take the Gospel out “Beyond These Walls.”
Last month we had a great turnout for our Unwind and Design night. We had over 14 ladies participate. Valerie gave a devotion on how to stop procrastination and encouraged them to put their spiritual lives first. It has been such a blessing that other women are now hosting the event in their homes and teaching the classes. Pray for our next meeting on the 27th.
We are looking forward to a visit from Steve and Jenell Bender next week. They will be attending our service. On Tuesday, we hope to give them a tour of the nation’s capital, Canberra. Steve is the Associate Mission Director of the BBFI in Springfield, Missouri.
Please continue to pray for our finances as the American dollar continues to weaken. We need to purchase a new laptop computer soon. Thank you for your prayers!

Scripture in School
Once again Valerie had the awesome opportunity to help teach Scripture classes to over 250 Kindergarten to 2nd graders in the local public school. Here’s a picture of Valerie teaching them the story of Joseph last week.

Valerie is walking much better now. The foot is still slightly swollen and red. She is still having a little pain. She may try to see her surgeon again soon. Hopefully by next month she will be able to get back into her normal shoes. Thank you for your prayers!

Attack on Religion
Please pray for our country. Just this past weekend a “Festival of Dangerous Ideas” was held at the Sydney Opera House. Speakers included the author of the novel “God is Not Great,” who claims that religion and religious ideas are dangerous and that man does not need God. His book sold over 40,000 copies here in Australia and New Zealand alone. Another speaker spoke on how Islamic values are good for the nation and why men should take several wives.
